SCOUTER'S DIGEST MAGAZINE
FEATURE ARTICLE SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
AND EDITORIAL POLICIES We accept feature length (4-5000 word) articles about
Scouting, Scouts, and adult Scouters who have shown extrodinary success in an event, program, or long term
Scouting experience. These feature length articles, with accompaning photographs or artwork, will
be considered for publication in our Scouter's Digest Magazine.
We encourage you to contact us before you submit your articles by e-mailing the editor at
info@honorpub.com.
Please note the following
submission guidelines and editorial policies:
 | When submitting a feature length article, send it directly to the
editor with a contact person's name and phone number. Submissions are accepted via
U.S. Postal Service (Snail Mail) only!.
All submissions will be acknowledged by either e-mail, in writing, or with a phone call.
Please submit all photographs and materials at the same time. |
| Materials for inclusion in the magazine are due on or before the first of the month, three months
prior to the magazine's publishing date. (For instance, February 1 is the deadline for the
May/June issue; April 1 is the deadline for the July/August issue; etc.) |
| Original black-and-white or color photos (no photocopies, please) should be sent free of
staples, paper clips or tape. (No date stamps, please.) Pictures should be identified with
the name of the Scout(s), Scouting Unit, or event and a description of what is going
on in the picture. Be sure to also identify all people in the photo. Avoid writing on the
back of the photo. Use a separate sheet of paper to identify people or objects in the photo and place in a separate envelope. Photos cannot be returned. |
| Computer generated graphics or scanned photos should be submitted in "TIF"
format at a minimum 300 dpi. (72 dpi webshots are not acceptable) |
| Keep in mind that sometimes important current Scouting news "bumps" other
information, so several months can elapse between the time news is submitted and when it
appears in the magazine. Every attempt will be made to let the author know when their
articles will appear. |
| Magazine submissions are subject to the editorial style, tone and discretion of the
editor. The editor reserves the right to modify, lengthen, shorten, or change any
submission with-out the prior consent of the author. |
