HONOR PUBLISHING COMPANY seeks exciting, meaningful stories with inspiration and appeal that adult leaders (Scouters) would enjoy. We are looking for historical, biographical, or informative manuscripts as well as entertaining fiction and non-fiction stories about Scouting, Youth Groups, or about adults relating to children in positive ways. We would prefer manuscripts that not only entertain and inform, but also inspires both adults and youth in ethical, religious, and patriotic ways.
We publish a variety of themes and genres, but stories about Scouting or Young Teens in a group situation will be considered first.

FICTION: Original, realistic, contemporary stories, as well as poems, tall tales, folktales, legends, and myths of all cultures.

NONFICTION: Fascinating subjects and information presented as a story in language readable by both teenagers and adults.

STRUCTURE: Well-developed stories with captivating beginnings and energetic middles that end with a positive, satisfying, humorous ending. Unexpected endings or twists make for fun reading. No list-type stories, please.

LENGTH: Varies by subject and type of manuscript.

STORYLINE: Exciting, believable stories with clean, exciting fun. No sex, smoking, drug or violence material please.

SENTENCES: Manuscripts should be complete and grammatically correct. No sentence fragments.

LANGUAGE: English: a mix of both natural and book language. If dialogue is used, it must sound natural using understandable english. If todays "teenage slang" is used, the translation must somehow be incorporated into the story so the reader can follow..

Please do not submit:

resumes, vocabulary lists, or language skills manuscripts that stereotype or demean individuals or groups, or present violence, smoking, drugs, or sex as acceptable behavior.

Submission Procedures:

1. Manuscripts should be written (word processor or typewritten) and double-spaced with your name, phone number, and the page number on each page. Illustrations are welcomed, but not necessary. Send photocopies, not originals.

2. Include a short cover letter with your name, address, telephone number, and manuscript title.

3. Enclose a self-addressed stamped envelope with sufficient return postage. International Reply Coupons are not acceptable.

NOTE: Our response time can be as long as six to twelve months.
